High Atlas, Morocco
A genuine Moroccan Berber rug of some age. The outer border recalls nearby neolithic cave. paintings.
The Ait Ouaouzguite BerBers are the entry point for Persian and Afghan Tribal sensibilities. Distinct identifiable colouring and commonly seen angular motifs being the commonalities.
A further departure from most other BerBer rugs, and similarity with the Persian is the high altitude wool that gains a deep shine with age.
