A Balisht is a big sack made by Nomadic sheep farmers throughout Afghanistan, It is used to store and carry grain for the animals, they are made by the women using their own wool from the sheep for the structure and weaving/knotting and horse hair for the ties and selvedge, it can be used as a small scatter rug or the most popular is filling it and using as a floor cushion or daybed cushion. Its a beautiful and unique piece made in the 1960's.
