Kashmar south of Mashaad in East Iran has a history of fine dense knotting but with a flexible handle. The ourrageous large border designs break out across the borders. Although found in some Kerman Yazd or Mashaad rugs it is de regueur in Kashmar.
One of the most opulent of all rugs. Kashmar still lives the Orientalist traditions fashionable in Europe in the 19th Century.
Coupled with fine weaving and a deep richly soft pile, this rug must be experienced.
