$2,600
This East European Tapestry exhibits the distinctive character of the folk-arts of Romania and Moldova in the early to mid 20th century. The period saw a dramatic muscular take on the classic French Aubusson styles. Flat-woven, double-sided with a strong hardy weave. Perfect condition.
Made for a public special occasion. Like opening a new cement factory. Bringing the garden inside while outside is the below zero temp and howling deracinating wind. Pure dyed wool on a dyed cotton warp.
