The Koli Kosh is inspired by the simple bedding rugs traditionally woven across the highlands of Southern Persia. Their beauty lies not in elaborate ornament, but in the quiet confidence of honest materials and timeless craftsmanship.
The wool is roughly hand spun, and knotted with a finer, denser structure than many traditional village examples. The result is a rug that retains the warmth and character of the originals while offering a refined quality suited to everyday living.
This particular green field Koli Kosh was woven around ten years ago and has recently returned to us through trade. After a thorough wash, the natural wool has responded exactly as one would expect from a well made traditional rug. It is as fresh and beautiful as the day it was woven.
Koli Kosh is often translated as “superior love” or “something of the highest pleasure”. It belongs to the wider family of Gabbeh weavings.
